Guitar is a pretty tricky instrument if you’ve no experience playing a stringed instrument. If you do decide to pick up the guitar keep in mind a few things:

Your fingers will hurt and you will get ugly callouses. Electric guitar is easier on the fingers. So is a classical guitar.

You will suck for a while and those around you will suffer. You’ll get better though.

I’ve been playing for 11 years and still use mostly the same chords I learned in the first year playing.

well put Mr. Skilling….when I first started palying(and still it happens too) there were so many times I assumed that I must be doing something horribly wrong, because this shouldn’t be so hard…after a week of doing something on the guitar, you can usually ALMOST do it.
