There is a great article at the Toronto Star that tries to tell the truth about music downloading. But there is a problem. You need to sign up for a membership to read it. I hate newspapers that make you sign your life away in order to read their site, so I am risking a Cease and Desist by reprinting the article in whole below. If you feel that you want to sign up to see the original, it is here. But I urge you to give them false info in the signup form.
P.S. Jim Cuddy and Tom Cochrane can both lick my sack.

I was under the misconception that there was no Canadian English in OSX. I asked the people at Macslash and they gave me the solutions. It doesn’t change the localization settings so the actual applications speak Canadianese to me, but I am not bugged when I type in “neighbour” any more.

Thanks Macslash!
Found out that an asian cafe in the building that I work in now makes sushi to order. (dangerous)
Spent the day at work doing as little as possible.
Got my retroactive GST rebate for 2003.
Gave it to Visa.
Went to HMV and bought the Spike Jones DVD.
Visited Alison at work.
Read InDesign and Acrobat textbooks to learn why my last Izzum was so fucked up.
Bought a Teach Yourself Japanese book and cd set.
Ate blackened catfish at the cafe in Alison’s work.
Ignored the flashing light on the answering machine.
Drank beer, watched some of the Spike Jones DVD, then Audition.
Read some of the Japanese book.
Played Bud Redhead.
Looked up how to make Brava Sauce and Spanish Tortilla like I had at Las Bravas in Madrid.
And Brennevin like I had in Iceland. Does anyone know what that site means by “neutral brandy/spirits with 35% alcohol”? That would be really helpful to me.
Read a bit of the book Joe gave me for my birthday and thought about how my day embodied what this book has told me so far.
Wrote this.
Went to bed.
We have all seen variations of this one.

Kevin sends me this with this quote:

This is even scarier, yet somehow humbling.
I do not find this humbling at all, the only thing it proves is that population density has an effect on political ideology.
Sorry I do have something today:

I have nothing to give you right now, so in true catblogging form, here is a picture of my cat.

I didn’t know who Lindon Leader was before I read this interview. But damnit if it isn’t one of the most inspiring talks I have read from a designer in ages. I think it is the informality that gets me.
Izzum this month is mine to design and I was only half looking forward to it after last time. If you think about how these things that we make, just so people will be interested enough to pick them up, or recognize them from “five blocks away” and that people actually notice the fruits of a mind twisted by typographical obsessive compulsiveness once in awhile, it well it is is just nice, that’s all.
I never got around to reading these books when I was a kid, but about six months ago, I picked them up and was pleasantly surprised. I suppose I just didn’t believe the hype, and was sort of jaded because playing the text adventure game based on the book, I could never get past the bulldozer at the very beginning.
Disney began production of a new movie version last year and to my surprise it looks really cool. The director is untried and the cast is mostly unfamiliar to me, but it does have John Malcovich in it. I find it funny that I have only read the book recently, but I am almost as protective of it as some long-time fans. I guess it is their quality that makes them so easy to love.
The teaser gets me a little excited to.

The Heart Of Gold production art.
You said.
